‘With a dedicated roasting space, florist, and café bar, this new home allows us to double down on what we do best’
After closing in Hull at the end the December, popular coffee bar, Still, is set to begin its ‘next chapter’ in the East Riding. The owners have announced they are to reopen in a prime location in Beverley town centre.
In late 2025, Still, formerly known as Two Gingers Coffee, announced the closure of its site on Hull’s historic Posterngate. The cafe had been on the picturesque street for more than eight years.
A licensing application has been submitted to East Riding Council for the cafe’s new premises at 22 North Bar Within. The application seeks permission for the sale of alcohol and sets out the planned opening hours of the site: Sunday – Thursday: 10am to 4pm, and 10am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
Announcing their new site online, the coffee shop said: “Beverley, our next chapter begins with you. After nearly nine years in Hull, it felt time to step beyond our comfort zone. Leaving the city we grew up in hasn’t been easy, but we truly gave it everything we had. A new location brings fresh energy, optimism, and the promise of a brighter future.
“On the corner of North Bar Within and Hengate sits a 400-year-old Grade-II listed building – full of charm, character, and unmistakably us.
“Views of St Mary’s church as you sip clean coffee & drink natural wine. With a dedicated roasting space, florist, and café bar, this new home allows us to double down on what we do best.”
Still cited rising costs as a key factor in their decision to move away from Hull city centre. When the coffee bar announced its closure, Hull City Council reinstated its commitment to support businesses.
A council spokesperson said: “We’re working hard to support businesses in our city centre both now and in the long-term. Our continued commitment to regenerating our city centre includes a number of schemes available to support businesses, including grants to bring vacant property back into use.
“Our Culture and Heritage Strategy will additionally help to boost our city centre over the coming years, where fantastic projects such as the transformation of Queen’s Gardens and the Maritime Museum have contributed to Hull being listed as one of the world’s top 25 destinations by National Geographic. We also recently set out our ambition for the city centre over the next 20 years via our City Centre Vision, which provides the direction for investment, funding and growth for the coming decades.”
