The Tigers’ ongoing injury concerns continued despite their first cup win under Acun Ilicali

Hull City face a nervous wait to find out the extent of the leg injury picked up by Darko Gyabi in Sunday’s FA Cup triumph over Blackburn Rovers.

Gyabi looked disconsolate as he limped off the MKM Stadium pitch early on in the goalless draw, which City eventually won 4-3 on penalties.

The midfielder had sat on the turf with play nowhere near him before undergoing a spell of treatment and then limping off, having been consoled by Liam Millar.

Boss Sergej Jakirovic confirmed Gyabi had hurt his groin and would go for a scan on Monday to determine the extent of it, admitting it didn’t look good.

Elsewhere, Matt Crooks is expected to be fit to face Southampton on Saturday after pulling out of the warm-up with a hamstring issue.

Crooks was named in the starting XI to take on Rovers before being replaced by Kasey Palmer, who started his first game since September.

City were keen to avoid taking any precautions with the influential midfielder ahead of a three-game week which sees the Tigers face the Saints and Preston North End away, before hosting Swansea City.

Elsewhere, Cody Drameh was another who limped out of Sunday’s third round contest, but that was a cramp, while Enis Destan is facing a spell out.

Destan was not involved and had returned to Istanbul to recover from an MCL injury to his knee, which is expected to keep him sidelined for around 10 days.

City don’t expect to have John Lundstram or Joe Gelhardt back for their weekend away on the South Coast, but hope those two, along with Ryan Giles, will return before the end of the month.
