The Tigers are in the hat for the last 32 for the first time in six years
Hull City will be in the fourth round hat for the first time since the 2019/20 campaign when the draw is made on Monday night.
The Tigers will take their place in the draw, which will be made around 6:35pm before Liverpool vs Barnsley at Anfield, after coming past Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers at the MKM Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to a penalty shootout.
City will be ball number 23 in Monday night’s draw, which will take place on TNT Sports 1, discovery+ and the TNT Sports YouTube channel. Darren Fletcher will host the show with Ally McCoist and the draw will be made by Steven Gerrard and Joe Cole
Their next round tie will take place over Valentine’s weekend in February, which means their trip to promotion rivals Ipswich Town on February 14 will be rescheduled, with the Tractor Boys narrowly beating League One outfit Blackpool 2-1 at Portman Road.
Coupled with last weekend’s postponement against Watford, who were thrashed 5-1 in the FA Cup at Bristol City on Saturday, leaves two games needing to be rescheduled, with both expected to be shoehorned into midweeks during February and March.
Owner Acun Ilicali, speaking to Hull Live before the clash with Rovers, admitted he would love to face Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea, who were 5-1 winners at Charlton Athletic in his first game in charge of the Stamford Bridge club, but not just yet.
“I wouldn’t like to meet with Chelsea in the fourth or fifth round at home or away at Stamford Bridge,” Ilicali joked. “If we pass this round against Rovers at our home, the only place I think we should meet Liam’s team this season is in the FA Cup final at Wembley in May. Then, if we lose to Liam’s side, we will not be too sad if it is at Wembley.”
City’s prize for getting past Rovers, in addition to around £40,000 in television revenue for being on Discovery+, was a very handy £121,500, while the losers claimed £26,500. That prize fund rises to £127,000 for the fourth round winners, with nothing for the losers.
