The Michelin-starred venue is taking part in Restaurant Month with The Good Food Guide

A nationwide campaign designed to help boost bookings during one of the hospitality industry’s quietest trading times is spotlighting some of Britain’s stand-out dining gems, including one in the heart of East Yorkshire. The Good Food Guide is launching its first ever Restaurant Month, during which some of the most exciting places to eat out will serve up special menus and offers.

More than 350 restaurants are taking part in the inaugural Restaurant Month, with each venue running a special set menu and encouraging diners to go out for a meal in January and February. During Restaurant Month, which runs from January 13 to February 13, the Pipe and Glass, at South Dalton, will be offering two courses for £20.

The offer, which applies from Tuesday to Thursday, dinner only (5pm to 6.30pm), is for a maximum party size of four. It will give people a chance to savour some of the delights from the kitchen of East Yorkshire’s only Michelin-starred chef James Mackenzie.

The Pipe and Glass was recently announced as one of The Good Food Guide’s top 100 pubs, placing 25th. The publication, Britain’s authority on eating out since 1951, rates the South Dalton pub overall as “very good” and hails the “impressive locally sourced food in a proper Yorkshire inn”.

In a review of the pub, the Guide said: “James Mackenzie doesn’t trade in dolls-house portions or superfluous smears; instead, his dishes are hearty and substantial. Happily, the owners have never lost sight of their original vision of an informal country pub dedicated to impressive cooking with a local accent.”

Adam Hyman, owner of The Good Food Guide and founder of CODE Hospitality, said: “January is a notoriously tough time for hospitality. I’ve always thought it is one of the best times to treat yourself to a meal out and a glass or two of something delicious.

“The aim of Restaurant Month is to encourage the British public to venture out for a meal at the beginning of year and perhaps try a place that they may not have eaten at or treat themselves to a special meal somewhere that may have been out of their budget. Whether you’re a cash-strapped student, a family not wanting to cook at home one evening or someone who just loves restaurants as much as we do, Restaurant Month is for everyone.”
