

It was still very much a monochrome world as far as local news coverage was concerned, 40 years ago this month, as these photos from the Hull Daily Mail archive show.
The black and white pictures reveal some very different times, not least the well-known Blundell’s Corner. The site of the current Hull Daily Mail office was still an NCP car park – the Mail moved from its Jameson Street home to Blundell’s Corner in 1989 – and the budget Campanile Hotel (now The Galleon), in Freetown Way, was yet to be developed.
