Hull City’s Monday night Championship clash against Middlesbrough won’t be televised despite being played on a weekday
Hull City’s final match of 2025, taking on promotion rivals Middlesbrough this evening, won’t be televised live despite the Monday night slot.
The Championship has seen a remarkable number of fixtures broadcast live by Sky Sports following a fresh TV agreement that came into effect at the beginning of last season.
Sky has enjoyed the freedom to cherry-pick weekend clashes for coverage, whilst also screening all opening and closing day encounters, every bank holiday fixture, the full set of Carabao Cup matches and midweek league contests. As a result, the Tigers have featured regularly on the box this campaign.
However, bizarrely, their Monday evening clash at The Riverside – forming part of a complete EFL fixture card being played today – has been classed as a “displaced Saturday match”.
The EFL clarified: “A full round of fixtures takes place on Monday, December 29, with eight of those games selected for live coverage on Sky Sports. These games are displaced Saturday matches, so reflect the usual number of TV selections for a Saturday fixture list.”, reports Stoke on Trent Live.
The match has been deemed a displaced Saturday fixture despite being confirmed as a Monday kick-off when the schedule was unveiled during the summer months.
Four Championship encounters are getting the Sky treatment tonight: Coventry versus Ipswich (6pm), Leicester against Derby County (7.45pm), Sheffield Wednesday taking on Blackburn (7.45pm) and Birmingham City facing Southampton (8.15pm).
Hull City will be back on your screens when they face Stoke City on Thursday (3pm). The match will be available on Sky Sports+, with coverage kicking off at 2.50pm.
