A 14-year-old boy has been arrested following reports of teenagers “throwing fireworks” in the Bransholme area. Police say they were called to Dalwood Close just before 7pm on Sunday (October 26).
While attempting to detain a teenager at the scene who is alleged to have been involved, an officer was reportedly assaulted but was not seriously injured. A search of the teenager also saw “a small quantity of what is believed to be class B drugs” discovered.
Thankfully, nobody is understood to have been injured by the fireworks and “no properties are believe to have been damaged”. A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “A 14-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, possession of class B drugs, and attempting to possess with intent to supply class B drugs. He remains in police custody assisting with ongoing enquiries at this time.”
The force says its teams are “gearing up” for a busy few days over Halloween and Bonfire Night. A spokesperson added: “We take a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to anyone deliberately looking to harm others enjoying the occasions in the lead up to and on Halloween itself. This includes people being antisocial and behaving in a way that taunts or intimidates people, or throwing things at people, their houses, or cars.
