A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the discovery

Around a quarter of a million cigarettes were found in a car stopped by police in Hull. A man has been arrested after a “vehicle believed to be linked to criminal activity” was spotted on the A63 Clive Sullivan Way at around 1.15pm on Monday (October 13).

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered what is believed to be approximately a quarter of a million cigarettes.

“A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of knowing or believing an article bearing a counterfeit mark to be counterfeit, and supplying or delivering it. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.”
