Hull City travel to St Andrew’s this weekend to face a Birmingham City team depleted by injuries
Birmingham City have added another injury to Chris Davies’ worries after Demarai Gray was sent back early from international duty.
Jamaica winger Gray has started all nine league games this season but he is now a doubt to face Hull City this Saturday after he returned to Birmingham for treatment to a groin injury.
Blues boss Davies already have a lengthening injury list after Bright Osayi-Samuel and Marvin Ducksch picked up problems before the international break. Osayi-Samuel and Ducksch aren’t expected to be sidelined for long.
But Ethan Laird faces an extended spell out of the team with a hamstring issue, meaning Osayi-Samuel’s knock against Sheffield Wednesday forced central midfielder Tomoki Iwata to play right back in the draw at Wrexham.
Speaking about Osayi-Samuel, Davies said: “He wasn’t really close, he just couldn’t get over that knock that he had. I don’t think we’re talking about something that’s going to keep him out for long but he wasn’t ready.”
Forward Ducksch pulled out of the warm up at Coventry (September 27) but could be ready in time to face the Tigers.
No. 10 Willum Willumsson hasn’t played since August 29, with an unspecified injury that was expected to only keep him out ‘a few weeks’.
Meanwhile left back Lee Buchanan and winger Scott Wright are long-term absentees with knee injuries.
The Tigers go into the game one place above 16th placed Birmingham, ahead by a single goal in goal difference.
