Visitors can pick up a bargain and try out the newly refurbished café
Dove House Hospice has said it is delighted to announce the return of its popular weekly Car Boot Sale, taking place every Sunday from May 10 through to mid-September 2026 at the hospice’s grounds on Chamberlain Road in east Hull.
Local residents can clear out their cupboards, sell unwanted items, and hunt for a bargain, all while supporting the work of Dove House Hospice, which offers free palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses.
Last year’s car boot sales proved a huge success, raising almost £10,000 to help the charity fund specialist care for people across Hull and the East Riding.
The car boot opens for sellers at 8.30am, with no exceptions. Pitch fees are paid on arrival, priced at £9 for cars and £13 for vans or cars with trailers.
Dove House said spaces cannot be booked in advance and pitches will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Portable toilets will also be available on the field for the convenience of visitors and sellers.
The car boot sale will open to the public at 9.30am, giving buyers plenty of opportunity to browse the wide range of stalls and discover hidden treasures.
Visitors can also enjoy the onsite community café, The Kitchen by Dove House, which will be serving a selection of hot drinks, breakfast items and refreshments throughout the morning.
Whether people are looking to declutter, pick up a bargain, or simply enjoy a relaxed Sunday morning out, Dove House said the car boot sale will be a welcoming community event for everyone, while helping support the essential care provided by the hospice.
Tiff Brodie, community fundraiser, said: “Events like our weekly car boot sales make a real difference to the hospice. Last year alone, they raised almost £10,000, helping us continue to provide vital care and support to people across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire living with life-limiting illnesses. Every seller and every visitor play a part in making that possible, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and for visitors to enjoy some delicious food and refreshments from our newly refurbished café, The Kitchen by Dove House Hospice. See you there.”
Dove House’s specialist care is given through a Day Therapy Unit, an in-patient unit with 21 beds, social work teams, as well as an education department.
This community service survives, in the main, on voluntary funding from the local and business communities. Over £8.6m is required every year to maintain and develop its specialist care services.
