The 28-year-old midfielder has been a regular so far this season

Amir Hadziahmetovic admits he has found the transition from the Turkish Super Lig to the English Championship difficult, but says he’s enjoying the challenge.

The Hull City midfielder joined the Tigers from Besiktas on a season-long loan back in the summer, and has gone on to play 23 times in the second tier for Sergej Jakirovic.

A cultured performer, Amir has shown touches of class at times in the heart of the Tigers’ engine room, while also having moments where the pace and speed of the Championship has perhaps caught him out, with him having his pocket picked on occasions.

In the past two wins at Southampton and Preston North End, the Bosnian international has looked as comfortable and at ease as he has done since arriving, testament to his will to get to grips with the Championship.

Hadziahmetovic says getting to grips with life in England has had its ups and downs, and he remains determined to succeed as the Tigers look to maintain their promotion push in the second half of the season.

“I think I’m settling in well,” he told Hull Live. “Of course, in the adaptation time, I have had ups and downs, as I think every player in football does; it’s normal. I’m trying to do my 100 per cent best, and I think I will improve and be better every game.

“Physically, it’s very tough with many long balls. I’ve been struggling in some games, but, as I say, it’s really physical, so I need to be ready, I need to adapt.

“I’m not in the same league I was for 10 years, so I’m trying my best to adapt to this style of game. Maybe it’s not my style of game that I want to play, but I need to adapt, and I need to do my best as long as I’m here. I’m really enjoying it football-wise, also the city, I’m enjoying it.”

City are fourth in the Championship and have a five-point cushion to Watford in seventh after their two impressive wins this week and now face resurgent Swansea City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

“I really believe in the team we have. I believe we can play against anyone,” the midfelder continued. “I believe that we can win the next game. I think we played maybe the best games against, let’s say, the top teams in the Championship. We have shown that we can play against the good teams, and I believe we’ll have a good second part of the season.”
