Everything you need to know about Hull City’s meeting with Swansea City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon

Hull City have a host of players unavailable for the meeting with Swansea City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, as the in-form Tigers aim to make it three league wins on the spin.

Here’s a look at where things stand for both the Tigers and Swans ahead of the 3pm kick-off in East Yorkshire…

  1. Kieran Dowell. City‘s latest signing completed the formalities of fhis switch from Rangers on Thursday and is set to be in the squad this weekend, joining fellow new arrival Yu Hirakawa in preparing to make his MKM Stadium bow. Toby Collyer and Paddy McNair, however, will not be involved this weekend with their moves from Manchester United and San Diego FC respectively expected to be ratified early next week.
  2. Kyle Joseph. City’s seven-goal forward rolled his ankle in the win at Southampton and was forced off, with him missing Tuesday night’s win at Deepdale, but he’s expected back this weekend against the Swans.
  3. David Akintola. After coming off early in the second half at Deepdale, there was some concern that he could miss the game but it was only cramp, and he trained as normal on Thursday, as did John Egan.
  4. Ryan Giles. The influential left-back is expected back from his hamstring injury at Blackburn Rovers next Saturday. Giles hasn’t played since leaving the Riverside Stadium pitch after just five minutes in City’s final outing of 2025, but he’s closing in on a return and should be involved at Ewood Park.
  5. Enis Destan. One of City’s summer signings arrived with a knee injury which took him a while to recover from, and he’s been hit by the same problem once again. The Turkish striker is set to be sidelined for what’s almost become City’s default timescale, around four to six weeks which does leave them light in attack.
  6. Eliot Matazo. His return from the ACL injury he picked up at Cardiff City early last year remains some way off. The Belgian ace had hoped to return towards the end of this month, but a setback in his recovery has seen that date pushed back. City hope it’ll only be another month before he’s able to return.
  7. Mo Belloumi. After scoring a fine equaliser on Boxing Day at Sheffield Wednesday, the Algerian wing-wizard suffered another hamstring injury, his second of the season after returning from his ACL damage. Belloumi is not expected back this side of the March international break, and there was some concern it would be later in the campaign before he was fit enough to return.
  8. Brandon Williams. Another of City’s summer signings, Williams’ season so far has been underwhelming for both him and the Tigers. His future remains uncertain beyond the end of the window, though he’s back on the grass as he recovers from a calf injury. Not expected to feature against the Swans.
  9. Semi Ajayi. Another major blow for the Nigerian and City was the news that he damaged his hamstring in the final knockings of the third-placed game at AFCON last Sunday. The influential central defender is expected to be sidelined for around seven weeks.
  10. Cody Drameh. Any hint of a move away from the MKM Stadium this month was ended when he suffered a quad injury which was expected to see him out for at least a month. Initial fears were that it could be as long as 10 weeks, though that estimate has been altered somewhat and he’s likely to return to the fold sooner.
  11. Darko Gyabi. The midfielder joined the growing injury list when he torn his groin muscle early on against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup win earlier this month. Jakirovic feared it would be serious, and it was, with the prognosis suggesting he’ll be out for a minimum of 12 weeks and could miss the rest of the season.
  12. Swansea, meanwhile, will be without former City target Zeidane Inoussa with a back complaint that could see him sidelined for a prolonged period of time. Ethan Galbraith is also expected to miss the trip to East Yorkshire with a knee problem picked up in the recent clash with Birmingham City, and so, too, is Chelsea loanee Ishe Samuels-Smith and striker Adam Idah. Vitor Matos’ squad will be boosted by the arrival of winger Gustavo Nunes on loan from Premier League outfir Brentford. The Brazilian became their second signing of the January window following on from Joel Ward.
