The pair were due to meet earlier this month, before the game was called off shortly before kick-off off

Hull City’s postponed game against Watford has been given a fresh date, just under two weeks since the controversial postponement at the MKM Stadium on January 4.

Both sets of players were on the MKM Stadium pitch warming up with fans already having taken their seats when the decision was made to call the game off, less than 20 minutes before kick-off, owing to concerns all parties had around player safety after parts of the pitchside perimeter were frozen.

The rearranged game will now take place on Tuesday, February 3, after the two clubs came to an arrangement, with the clash kicking off at 7:45pm, coming just over 24 hours after the winter transfer window closes at 7pm on Monday night, February 2.

City says tickets purchased for the original fixture will remain valid for those who wish to attend, while refunds will be offered to fans who can’t make the rearranged date.

Watford’s second visit to East Yorkshire in the space of a month comes at the end of a week where the Tigers round off January with a trip to Blackburn Rovers on the 31st, before welcoming Bristol City to the MKM Stadium on February 7.

City still has to fit in the trip to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town, which was originally scheduled to take place on February 14, but owing to both clubs’ involvement in the FA Cup fourth round, the game will now not take place.

Ipswich travel to Championship rivals Wrexham, while City host a reunion with former boss Liam Rosenior and his Chelsea side. A date for that game has not yet been confirmed, though it won’t be Valentine’s Day with Hull FC set to kick off their Super League season at home to the Bradford Bulls.
