Hull KR’s pre-season so far in Willie Peters’ words: intensity, challenges and ambition.

Hull KR’s pre-season is once again hitting high standards, according to head coach Willie Peters, as the reigning treble winners prepare for another demanding campaign.

The Robins continue their preparations with a nine-day overseas training camp, flying out to Tenerife on Friday. Having returned to training at the end of November, Peters has already set clear targets for 2026, with a fast start to the season firmly on the agenda.

“It’s been good, a typical Hull KR pre-season – nice, intense and everyone is working hard,” Peters told Hull Live.

“We’ve got a shorter pre-season because of the success of last year, which is a position you want to be in.

“We didn’t start the first couple of games last year at our best in terms of performance wise, so we’ll be looking to improve on that.

“The only way you know is by playing, but in terms of training and what we’re doing every day, we’re looking to go further in everything we do and we’re certainly seeing that.”

Hull KR face what is arguably one of the toughest starts to a Super League campaign in the modern era. They open the season away at newcomers York Knights before the highly-anticipated World Club Challenge against Brisbane Broncos, followed by a trip to Las Vegas for a blockbuster clash with Leeds Rhinos. Two further away fixtures in France against Catalans Dragons and Toulouse Olympique follow before the end of April.

“2026 is going to have its challenges, in terms of schedule for example, but we’re in a privileged position and we wouldn’t swap anything,” Peters continued.

“You want to be in this position and play in the big games and be a part of major events.

“We need to handle that, and we will by working hard every day. There’s no time for complacency, there’s 13 other teams who will want to do what we did last year. It was a special feeling, and we want more, so you need to work hard and go again.

“We’ve set out our long-term plan and what will keep the guys as fresh as can be.

“We’ve done a lot of planning and details into what our season will look like, and the players are well aware of what that looks like as well.”
