The Tigers hope to wrap up their first arrival of the window in the next couple of days
Hull City are closing in on their first signing of the winter transfer window, with Seny Dieng expected to sign a permanent contract with the Tigers.
The experienced goalkeeper is understood to have agreed terms on an initial 18-month deal at the MKM Stadium, after City negotiated his release by Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough.
Dieng’s move to the MKM Stadium is expected to be wrapped up before Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie with Blackburn Rovers at the MKM Stadium.
Hull Live understands the EFL has approved Dieng’s move to the MKM Stadium after talks this week, and therefore, at this stage, City will not need to move a player out to accommodate the 31-year-old Swiss-born former Senegal international.
The former QPR stopper, who has played 168 times in the Championship, hasn’t played for Boro since December 2024 in a game with Leeds United, his 52nd and final appearance. He turned out for QPR 121 times earlier in his career, keeping 30 shut-outs.
Sol Brynn dislodged him as the Riverside number one, and then Dieng sustained an Achilles injury and halted any hope of a move away from Teesside last summer, but Boro now have a need to move players out themselves to free up space in their squad and have sanctioned his permanent exit.
Dieng’s imminent arrival will provide competition for number one Ivor Pandur, but it doesn’t mean the Tigers will look to move on the Croatian before the window closes on February 2 at 7pm.
“Ivor (Pandur) is now number one, but he’s (Dieng) a good goalkeeper who has experience in this league, which is very, very important,” Jakirovic previously told Hull Live on interest in Dieng.
