
Humberside Police launched an investigation in December after ‘human skeletal remains’ were found in a tent
Humberside Police has identified human remains that were found in a tent in Hull in December. A member of the public made the tragic discovery in the Melwood Grove area of Hull and a scene guard was put in place at the time.
In a statement issued today (January 5), the force has confirmed they have now identified the remains. According to police, the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Robinson said: “Extensive enquiries have been conducted following the discovery of human skeletal remains on Melwood Grove in Hull on Thursday, 11 December 2025.
“Following these initial enquiries, we can now confirm that the remains are believed to be that of one man who has now been identified. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.
“A postmortem examination of the man’s remains have now taken place, and at this stage, we are not treating the man’s death as suspicious.
“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we would ask anyone who has any information that could assist our enquiries, please contact our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 453 of 11 December.”
