City fans have waited more than 12 months to see their two frontline wingers on the same pitch at the same time and it was worth the wait
Hull City striker Kyle Joseph believes Sergej Jakirovic’s squad is blessed with genuine quality out wide, after Liam Millar and Mo Belloumi both carved out goals at Millwall.
Belloumi and Millar started together for the first time in more than a year at The Den, and within the opening 13 minutes, had provided glorious crosses for Joseph to score twice.
City skipper Lewie Coyle then crossed for Oli McBurnie to head in the third two minutes from time and seal a 3-1 win at play-off rivals Millwall.
Those goals come on the back of another Ryan Giles assist for McBurnie in the 2-0 win over Wrexham three days earlier, with the left-back notching an impressive seven assists so far, more than anyone else in the league, while Coyle has three.
“We spoke about it before the game, me and Liam, especially. He said he likes to get it (the ball) out of his feet on the left and swing one in with his left foot, a quick cross,” Joseph told Hull Live.
“When you have the quality that we have out wide, with Liam and Mo and even the lads who come off, coming off the bench in David (Akintola) and Joel (Ndala). Joel didn’t get on, but the lads we’ve seen training, the wingers we have, we’ve really got high-quality level wingers at this club.
“You look at the delivery, especially from Gilo (Ryan Giles) and even Skip (Lewie Coyle) as well, you see Skip, and the amount of assists he’s had this season. We’re really blessed to have good deliveries and good crosses the ball at this club.”
As always in the Championship, there’s no time to revel in victory with another game on the horizon, and for City, it sees them take on a West Brom side buoyed by their win over Sheffield United last Friday night.
After returning to winning ways at the MKM Stadium against Wrexham after successive defeats, Joseph wants to deliver three points in their final outing before Christmas.
“All focus moves on to West Brom now. We’ll prepare this week, and we want to try and get three points, especially before Christmas, and send the fans home happy.”
