British Transport Police has sadly confirmed a person has died following an ‘incident’ at Howden railway station this morning.
It comes after Humberside Police encouraged people to avoid the train station. On social media, the force said: “Members of the public are advised to avoid Howden Train Station due to emergency services currently dealing with an incident.”
A spokesperson for British Transport Police told Yorkshire Live: “Officers were called to Howden railway station at 6.32am on 16 December to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A number of trains have been cancelled, delayed or diverted.
