The Chase’s Darragh Ennis shared a flags quiz on TikTok that will leave even geography fans scratching their heads.
If you’ve ever settled down for an evening in front of ITV, chances are you’ve caught an episode or two of The Chase.
This popular game show pits a team of four contestants against one of six formidable quiz experts, known as Chasers, who aim to prevent the contestants from bagging the prize money. One of the newest additions to the Chaser line-up is Darragh Ennis, who joined the ranks in 2020 after triumphing in an episode himself back in 2017.
When he’s not busy outsmarting contestants on the show, Darragh can often be found on social media, sharing his own quizzes with his followers.
A recent quiz he posted on TikTok is a treat for geography buffs, focusing entirely on world flags. It consists of five questions that increase in difficulty, requiring a broad knowledge of global flags to answer correctly, reports the Mirror.
In his video, Darragh said: “One for all the vexillologists this time with a tough flags quiz. And if you didn’t know what vexillology means, the study of flags, you might be in trouble here. This one’s impossible – I bet no one gets all five.”

Questions
For a better understanding of the questions, you may want to watch the TikTok video, as two of them feature images of flags that you’ll need to see to answer. However, we have also listed them below:
- What is the only national flag that has a different design on both sides?
- Which island nation has this flag? (The flag is in the video, but it is a blue flag with a white star in the top left corner, and two diagonal lines going from the bottom left to the top right. One line is orange and the other is white).
- What animal appears on the flag of the Falkland Islands?
- Which country has a flag with a section of carpet on it, representing the country’s longstanding carpet industry?
- It’s often quoted no national flag has purple on it, but that isn’t true, because this one does. What country is that? (The flag shown in the video is a green flag with a cross in the middle made up of yellow, black, and white. In the very centre is a red oval lined with stars, and a picture of a parrot-like bird with green, blue, and purple feathers).
Answers
- Paraguay
- Marshall Islands
- Sheep
- Turkmenistan
- Dominica
To shed more light, Darragh clarified that Paraguay’s flag features the national coat of arms on one side and the treasury seal on the other. He also pointed out that Dominica should not be mistaken for the Dominican Republic, despite their names being “very easy to mix up”.
Viewers confessed in the comments that they found the quiz quite challenging, with some managing to answer only one out of the five questions correctly. One participant said: “I got 1/5. But I learnt four things so I’ll take that as a win!”.
Another posted: “4/5. I didn’t have a clue about the Paraguay flag being different. It’s an interesting fact to remember.”
A third wrote: “3 out of 5. Never even seen the other side of the Paraguay flag.”
