Latest key updates on Hull and East Yorkshire planning applications

  • Hull City Council’s planning committee granted permission to two major city centre developments on December 3. The committee gave the green light to a development which has caused considerable controversy in recent months. By 6 votes to 5, the committee approved plans for a mammoth 109-bed HMO in the former Portland Hotel on Paragon Street despite concerns from the area’s MP the local councillors.
  • The council’s planning committee also granted permission for the former Debenhams building to become 178 apartments. The approved plans also see part of the ground floor being maintained as retail space with units planed for along Ferensway and Brock Street. Work on the building, which has been empty for close to half a decade is now set to begin early next year.
  • Plans have been submitted to the Hull City Council for a new drive-thru coffee shop off Stoneferry Road. Plans for the site, which sits just north of the Rix Road Pets at Home, also include a 12-space EV charging area and a new car wash. Mock-ups suggest the drive-thru would be for coffee outlet, Bocca Felice.
  • East Riding Council have received plans for 10 ‘micro wind turbines’ to be planted between Kingswood and Beverley. The site in questions is at Carr House Farm north of Wawne. The turbines would have a maximum height of 35 feet.
