It’s the most wonderful time of the year and despite the cold, wet weather, crowds have packed into Queen Victoria Square for the annual Christmas Lights Switch-on!

Fingers might be numb, but faces are definitely aglow with Christmas spirit. The evening kicked off with a full line-up of entertainment to be followed by the lighting ceremony at 6.45pm and then fireworks!

Doing the honours of lighting up the city this year are the Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Cheryl Payne, Pride of Britain Award-winner The Hull Boy and a special guest from the North Pole!

Our photographer Donna Clifford is among the crowds snapping those happy faces.
