

The festive season officially gets underway in Hull tonight with the annual Christmas lights switch-one. The event kicks off at 5.30pm in Queen Victoria Square with fun for all ages.
This year the Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Cheryl Payne and ‘The Hull Boy’ Marcus Skeet, who won a Pride of Britain Award this year, along with a special guest from the North Pole will turn on the lights, illuminating Hull city centre for the festive season.
Entertainment from 5.30pm, will be hosted by DJ Darren Lethem on Hull City Hall balcony and includes live performers from State of the Arts Academy, including Dave Walkington, Russ Fallon, Alex from Venus and X-Factor’s Samantha. The MICE choir and Little Darlings Princess Parties will also perform live.
The lights themselves will be switched on at 6:45pm, followed by a sparkling firework display over Queen Victoria Square. This is weather dependent, so look out for updates – and make sure you wrap up warm!
