Foxglove Bespoke Care and Support offers support to adults in the community who have learning disabilities
A new training and activity hub has opened its doors in Bransholme. It will support adults in the community who have learning disabilities.
Foxglove in Hull supports adults with learning disabilities to live independently, working with individuals, families, communities, housing providers and commissioners to promote dignity, independence, inclusion and choice. Their new activity and training hub is called Foxglove Bespoke Care and Support.
Since its opening, the hub has already been used for a range of different activities, safe space chats, training and meetings. One individual described it as “a truly amazing new centre where lots of love has gone into making it.”
Founder and Managing Director of Foxglove, Johanna Leigh-Thompson, said: “We always knew there was a need for somewhere that the people we support could come and have a voice, meet in a safe space and socialise with others. It will also serve as the perfect location to train our growing team as well as the individuals that live in Foxglove homes, giving them a sense of inclusion, achievement and self-worth.”
Positive Behaviour Support Specialist and Trainer, Anne-Marie Bone, who has been instrumental in putting the project together, said: “Everyone we support who has come along to the sessions has absolutely loved them. They’ve been doing arts and crafts, meeting up for chats, drinking tea and eating cakes.”
Foxglove Care has been proving person-centred support for adults with learning disabilities since 2003. Their homes are based in ordinary streets, offering a familiar and adaptable environment.
The goal of the team is simple but powerful – empower every individual to live life their way. The new hub in east Hull has been designed to enhance the lives of the people they support by offering meaningful, engaging activities focused around their interests and needs.
