The event will launch a 16-day campaign of activism
A vigil will be held in Beverley later this month in a bid to combat violence against women and girls. The event will mark the start of the 16 days of White Ribbon activism and forms part of an annual international campaign that raises awareness of gender-based violence.
The event, organised by Women’s Institute Beverley and Beverley Town Council, with support of East Riding Council, will be held at Toll Gavel United Church, on Tuesday, November 25, at 6.30pm. East Riding of Council’s Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership service will be in attendance, with an information stand to provide resources and support.
The vigil forms part of the White Ribbon campaign, a charity that campaigns on ending violence against women and girls. The White Ribbon promise can be made at White Ribbon UK.
Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding cabinet member for communities and public protection, said “We all have a role to play in ending violence against women and girls. This event is an important opportunity to show our support and commitment to this cause, and we encourage residents to attend and pledge their support by signing up to the White Ribbon campaign.”
