His latest victim was a young girl
A serial sex offender has been branded a danger to the public after sexually abusing a vulnerable young girl – the “third time” that he had committed “a series of sexual offences”. Alan Green was given a lengthy prison sentence in 2000 and he was also locked up in 2015 but he has now been jailed again for the offences involving the girl, Hull Crown Court heard.
Green, 46, of Mersey Street, off Holderness Road, east Hull, but recently in custody on remand, admitted sexually assaulting a child under 13, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, assault by penetration and making indecent images of children.
David Godfrey, prosecuting, said that the girl came into contact with Green after he started hanging around in an area of Hull and approached her.
He talked to her. The girl’s mother knew who he was because he had appeared on Hull Live after previous sexual offending. During a series of incidents with the girl, Green “did disgusting things to her”. Indecent images were later found on his phone.
He gave the girl cigarettes. She later said: “I feel stressed, depressed and helpless and I want him to get locked up for ever, for the rest of his life. I keep having flashbacks and my head keeps going crazy. I am scared in case he gets out.”
In 2000, Green was jailed for seven years and five months for aggravated burglary, indecent assault and theft. In 2015, he was jailed for four-and-a-half years for sexual assault. He had been given a sexual harm prevention order.
Michele Stuart-Lofthouse, mitigating, said that it was “very concerning behaviour” by Green but he pleaded guilty at an early stage. “He understands fully what he has done,” said Miss Stuart-Lofthouse. “He has shown remorse.
“He fully understands that he was the adult in this situation. He hasn’t had any assistance in the past with any rehabilitation.” Green had suffered a series of problems.
Judge Alexander Menary said that concerns were raised by a concerned neighbour about Green’s activities with the girl after they were seen together. The victim’s mother was alerted after the neighbour went round to tell her what was going on.
“You perpetrated increasingly serious sexual abuse on a young child,” said Judge Menary. “You started to touch her up. This is the third time that you have committed a series of sexual offences.”
Green was jailed for 10-and-a-half years after being described as a dangerous offender. He will be on extended licence of five years after his release from prison. He was given a sexual harm prevention order for life and he will have to register as a sex offender for life.
