Showmen say Hull Fair is like “nowhere else”.
Ride-owners and stall-holders from around the UK have been arriving at the fairground in Walton Street ahead of opening night on Friday.
Many have travelled hundreds of miles, with some families having a connection with the fair stretching back over generations.
They gave the BBC a tour of the site as they put the finishing touches to the attractions.
