A man has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place

A man is alleged to have threatened security staff with a blade at a shop in Hull city centre. The incident is reported to have taken place in Whitefriargate at around 10am on Tuesday (September 23).

Humberside Police say a man was later arrested in the area of Ferensway after officers were sent to the scene and he was “reportedly found in possession of a pipe-cutting tool”.

A man has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Dalan Mercer, 27, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (September 24).
