Permanent “parklets” will be installed outside businesses in Hull city centre.
The initiative for Princes Dock Street – which is home to a number of bars and cafes – is designed to “enhance the street’s appeal” and improve facilities for visitors, according to the city council.
Trees, seating and safety bollards will also be installed, with the work due to continue into the new year.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, said the improvements would create “people-friendly spaces” that “improve the experience for everyone who lives, works, or visits the city”.
Ieronimo said the work marked the “final phase” of the project following a summer break, which had been designed to avoid upheaval for businesses during the peak trading season.
A previous trial of six parklets was staged in the street in 2023 and 2024.
