In just three weeks’ time the city will be welcoming the return of Hull Fair. The travelling fair will once again fill the Walton Street fairground with colour, music and light – and, of course, all those traditional fair food aromas.

Fairgoers in their thousands will flock to west Hull to enjoy the buzz of this centuries-old event. The world-famous fair, initially a market, received its first Royal Charter in 1279 and evolved into the entertainment-based event it is today.

The Yorkshire section of the Showmen’s Guild is responsible for bringing the fair to Hull each year. On the Hull Fair Facebook page, a post has confirmed the official opening times for its 2025 visit.

The fair will open at 5pm on Friday, October 10, for the first-night thrill-seekers to get their fix. It will run until 11pm.

On Saturday, October 11, it will be open from noon, until 11pm. Although a bid had been made earlier this year to break with tradition and open on Sunday, October 12, this year’s fair will stick to the usual format and be closed all that day.

Negotiations are still ongoing, however, with a potential for opening on the fair’s middle Sunday in 2026. From Monday to Friday, October 13 to 17, the fair will run from 2pm to 11pm and on the last night, Saturday, October 18, it will be a noon to 11pm operation.

The post said: “Hull Fair 2025 opening times! Plan your visit and make the most of the excitement!”. A further post drew attention to the potential problems for people journeying to Hull Fair because of the closure of the Drypool Bridge.

It said: “Please be aware that essential works to Drypool Bridge will cause significant delays during its closure which does coincide with the entirety of Hull Fair’s operating times, which is expected to further those delays. Please plan your journey during this time, Park & Ride and regular Hull Fair Buses will be operating and we expect to announce details shortly.”
