The Tigers have had a challenging start to the Championship campaign
Hull City have been backed to comfortably avoid a relegation dogfight this season – although a bottom-half finish could the best Sergej Jakirovic and Co could hope for according to the latest supercomputer predictions.
The Tigers have had a mixed start to the Championship campaign, picking up an important win over Oxford Unted and claiming what is a creditable goalless draw at free-scoring Coventry City.
However, they suffered a heavy 3-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers and signed off for the international break with a disappointing 4-2 setback at Bristol City.
The fixture list isn’t getting any kinder, with a tough trip to Swansea next up and promotion favourites Southampton heading to the MKM Stadium later in September.
However, Aceodds‘ supercomputer’s predictions sees City ending the season comfortably ahead of the dropzone, with a 16th-placed finish for Jakirovic’s men.
They have a predicted of 74.3 per cent chance of finishing in the bottom half, but only rated as 11.8 per cent likely to be in the bottom three.
However, they have been given just a 6.3 per cent chance of finishing in the top six, with a promotion push not thought to be on the cards.
Southampton are the most likely to finish top, according to the data, just ahead of Leicester City, with Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Coventry and Birmingham City left to fight it out in the play-offs.
At the bottom end, Wrexham, Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United are predicted to drop into League One.
The supercomputer simulated the league seasons 100,000 times and takes into account all match results from pre-season and the league games played so far, projecting the campaign based on pre-season expectations, fixture difficulty and xG earned both for and against during the season.
