Hull KR winger Lee Kershaw has received the devastating news that he has suffered an ACL injury. Kershaw, who joined the Robins from London Broncos ahead of the season, suffered a training ground injury at the end of May and the worst fears have now been realised.

Head coach Willie Peters had confirmed last week that Kershaw was going for scans to learn the extent of the injury and unfortunately, results came back on Monday confirming the long-term blow.

The ex-Wakefield Trinity winger signed a two-year deal at Sewell Group Craven Park ahead of the 2025 season, but his recovery will continue well into next season.

He has made just one competitive appearance for Rovers, making a try-scoring debut in the Challenge Cup 40-0 fourth round win over Oldham earlier in March.

Kershaw has also featured three times for Castleford Tigers across two separate loan spells this year.

Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea international Rhyse Martin could make his long-awaited return for Hull KR this week against Wakefield Trinity.

The back-rower underwent surgery on a thigh injury suffered in the 42-0 win over Salford Red Devils in March, and has been sidelined ever since. But Rovers boss Peters recently revealed that the 32-year-old could return as early as this week in Super League Round 16.

It was also confirmed last week that winger Joe Burgess has not suffered an injury setback, despite missing the recent 48-0 triumph over Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Peters is due to talk to media later on Tuesday afternoon.
