The 26-year-old arrived last summer before suffering a serious knee injury against Burnley in late October
Liam Millar says it will take him time to get used to being back around the Hull City first team after almost a year out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury last October.
The winger returned to the squad at Watford on Saturday, but didn’t get off the bench as City fell to a disappointing defeat before finally making his comeback against his former club, Preston North End, on Tuesday night, playing a major role in helping the Tigers roar back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.
Despite only returning to City’s matchday squad in the past week, Millar will be jetting off to his homeland during the international break after returning to Jesse Marsch’s Canadian squad for friendlies against Australia and Colombia in Montreal and New Jersey.
“I’ve been training for around three and a half weeks now, and with every session, the better my knee feels and the better I feel with the ball,” Millar told the club. “It’s going to be a bit of an adjustment period with me being out of the game for so long, but I’m feeling good and sharp.
“Everyone around me has been absolutely fantastic with me. They’ve really helped me when I needed it. I’m a very positive person, but I’ve had my days where that wasn’t the case, and I had my down days, but they were there to pick me up and remind me how far I’ve come in my journey.
“I think the buzz and the feeling that I had being back in the squad and experiencing that again was great. It was good just to be around the lads again.
“From sitting behind the bench for so many games and knowing that I had no opportunity to impact the game was very difficult, so the fact I was on the bench on Saturday made me feel like I was able to do something if I came on. “When you’re out of it for so long, you just miss the little things like warming up at half-time or putting your shinpads on or tying your cleats in a certain way and just anything you normally do before a game, it was good to have that exposure to routine again.”
