Young Harry Potter fans can explore the “wizarding world” at events taking place in libraries.
Harry Potter Book Day is celebrated on 9 October, but libraries around the East Riding of Yorkshire will stage sessions from Tuesday to 14 October.
There will be themed games, readings and fun activities for seven to eleven-year-olds.
Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said the events were “always rather hectic and fast-paced” and brought enjoyment to “children and staff alike”.
This year’s theme, “friends and foes”, would give fans a chance to “celebrate the magic of friendship” and consider “Potter’s deadliest foes and rivalries”, the council said.
Children are welcome to wear fancy dress.
A full list of dates, times and locations can be found on the East Riding Libraries website. Tickets for children should be booked in advance and cost £3, with accompanying adults going free.
