The Tigers will go in search of back-to-back home wins when the Lillywhites visit
Hull City will continue a busy week going into the international break with the first of two home games in the next four days with the visit of Preston North End, followed by Sheffield United looking to return to winning ways after Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Watford.
And for City skipper Lewie Coyle, he’s determined to make up for lost ground after missing the opening month of the campaign with a hamstring injury that he picked up in pre-season.
Coyle made his return to the starting line-up at Swansea City earlier this month and has been an ever-present since, which has meant Cody Drameh has remained on the bench, having started the campaign on the right side of the defence.
Drameh had been the fortunate beneficiary of the hamstring injury Coyle suffered against Istanbulspor back in July, but now faces a fight to earn his place back.
For Coyle, though, being back and thrust straight into Championship action is exactly what he wants, as he continues to get up to full speed after missing a large chunk of the crucial pre-season preparations.
“It is part and parcel of it, that’s football,” Coyle told Hull Live. “I’ve been around the game long enough to know that these things happen; it was just one of those unfortunate things, a little bit of fatigue, my hamstring went, and then I had to get back fit.
“It’s annoying cos you miss pre-season. Pre-season is where all the foundations are done; you lay the foundations to be in a good spot physically going into the season, so I had to play a little bit of catch-up with that.
“Massive, massive thanks to the rehab team and all the guys down there. The physios were fantastic here; we were very, very lucky. They got me back in a really good spot to be able to come back and play.
“I feel good, feel, feel in a good spot. Probably after a few more games, I’ll feel where I need to. The only way you get match fitness is by playing games. It wasn’t ideal, missing the time I did in pre-season, but I feel sort of in as good a spot as I can feel for the amount of football I’ve missed. Absolutely (ready to go), you know me, I’m good to go, always.”
