A sign in the window announces Pavers is closing down

One of the longest-running shops in Princes Quay Shopping Centre is closing down. Pavers was among the original 73 shops when the shopping centre opened more than 30 years ago.

A sign in the window announces a 30% off closing down sale. It adds: “this isn’t a goodbye” and redirects customers to the three closest stores: Hornsea Freeport, Hornsea Garden Centre, and McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in York.

Since welcoming its first customers in 1991, the iconic shopping centre has seen numerous changes. WiFi had not yet come out, and people still did most of their shopping in towns and cities.

Over the years, many of the originally shops have sadly shut and relocated. Other notable changes include the complete transformation of the Top Deck to Vue cinema which opened in 2007. Meanwhile, the TK Maxx unit on the ground floor became Superbowl.
