
Humberside Fire and Rescue rescued them from a bedroom using a ladder
A man and a woman were rescued from a house fire in Hull. The fire service said it was called at around 4.30am on Monday (September 22) to a property in Hayton Grove.
Humberside Fire & Rescue Service stated the fire started in the living room after a sofa went ablaze. The two adults – alerted by a fire alarm – were trapped in an upstairs bedroom.
Firefighters rescued them, plus a dog, using a ladder. The ambulance service took the man and woman to hospital, with both thought to be suffering from smoke inhalation.
There was fire damage to the living room and the rest of the property was damaged by smoke. Breathing apparatus, a hose reel, a main line, a PPV fan (Positive Pressure Ventilation fan), and a thermal imagining camera were used during he incident.
In its log of the incident, the fire service said, “fire involving sofa in living room of property. 2 adults, 1 male, 1 female trapped by smoke in upstairs bedroom, rescued by Fire Service using short extension ladder on outside of property. Dog also rescued via ladder.
“Fire damage to living room, smoke damage to remainder of property. Both adults suffering smoke inhalation, conveyed to hospital by ambulance. 2 BAs, 1 hose reel, 1 main line, PPV fan, Thermal Image Camera in use and lighting also in use. Smoke alarms actuated.”
