Hull City forward Mason Burstow has enjoyed a fine start to life at Bolton Wanderers, but could be about to suffer a disappointing setback.

The ex-Chelsea striker, who is on loan with the Trotters for the duration of the season from City, scored his fourth goal of the campaign so far in the 3-0 win over 10-man AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, before he was forced off early in the second period.

Burstow was complaining of a hamstring issue and limped out of the action at the Toughsheet Community Stadium just before the hour, having notched his fourth goal in seven League One games to help the Whites to within three points of the top six at this early juncture of the campaign.

Bolton will now await the results of a scan before determining the extent of Burstow’s hamstring problem, in the hope that his early-season momentum isn’t curtailed.

“It’s funny. When you get onto a bit of rhythm like that, especially for centre-forwards, everything just seems to fall for you,” said boss Steven Schumacher. “He’s got four in seven, and he’s been a really good player for us. The only issue is, once he passed that ball out for the second goal, he felt his hamstring, so we’ll have to see how he is.”

That impressive form has seen the 22-year-old named as the club’s Player of the Month for August, scoring goals against Plymouth Argyle, Reading and Steve Bruce’s Blackpool.

Elsewhere, Tigers playmaker Kasey Palmer has been in fine form for Jamaica over the course of the past week. While the majority of the City squad have been enjoying a few days off, the 28-year-old bagged a terrific goal from a mazy run in the 4-0 thrashing of Bermuda on Friday night to get their World Cup qualification final round off to a flying start

Palmer will hope to build on that performance in the early hours of Wednesday morning when Steve McClaren’s Reggae Boyz host Trinidad and Tobago in Kingston, looking to make it two wins from two.
