The latest transfer news from the MKM Stadium
Hull City have opened talks with Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas over a move to sign Amir Hadziahmetovic ahead of the transfer window closing next Monday night.
City want to sign the Bosnian international midfielder on loan for the duration of the season and hope to strike a deal with the Istanbul giants, though no agreement has yet been made for the player who is contracted at the club until the summer of 2027.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder is a player known to boss Sergej Jakirovic, and the club are working to try and find a way of doing a deal that complies with the restrictions placed on them by the EFL, who have imposed a two-window transfer fee restriction on the club.
Born in Denmark, Hadziahmetovic has been capped 30 times by Bosnia since making his debut almost five years ago, playing in both World Cup and European Championship qualifying, as well as the Nations League for his country.
Hadziahmetovic has notched up 231 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig and has also played in Europe, but has fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Vodafone Park.
Last term, he made just 11 appearances for Besiktas before being loaned out to Rizespor, where he went on to play 21 times in the second half of the season and was in the same team as recent arrival David Akintola. In total, last season, he played 32 times.
So far this season, the former Konyaspor ace has not made an appearance, having been named on the bench for the 2-1 win over Eyupspor on Sunday and could well be on his way out and a potential reunion with compatriot Jakirovic in East Yorkshire.
City have been keen to add a defensive midfielder to their ranks all summer, and came close to bringing in Toby Collyer from Manchester United last week before he opted to join West Brom, having already signed John Lundstram from the Black Eagles’ Super Lig rivals, Trabzonspor.
