Plans for a four storey residential development near Hull’s Victoria Dock have been submitted to Hull City Council.

The site of the former dock, east of Hull city centre, has become a popular place to live in recent years. Hoping to keep up with demand, plans have now been submitted to the council which seek to provide a further residential development.

Plans show the new development would be located on a piece of land north of the roundabout where Plimsoll Way meets South Bridge Road. The development would sit just south of the existing commercial units where the Victoria Dock Premier convenience store is located.

The apartment block would house twenty four residential units across the four storeys. Twenty of the units would have 1-bedroom whilst the other four would have 2-bedrooms.

The application also includes works to the existing car park that serves the retail units on the site. The car park would be altered to provide provision for a total of sixty two vehicles. The car park would provide parking for both the existing retail units and the proposed apartments. The plans would not alter the vehicle or pedestrian access to the site which currently comes from Plimsoll Way.

A heritage impact assessment concluded that the development “would not detract from the character and appearance of the street scene and area in a wider context, nor would it unduly impact upon the residential and commercial amenity of neighbouring occupants.”

If approved by the council the plans could join the East Bank Urban Village in upcoming residential development on the eastern side of the River Hull.
