Hull FC were defeated 13-6 by St Helens on Saturday afternoon. The Black and Whites were 8-0 behind at the break after a Kyle Feldt try and two Jonny Lomax goals. They fought back in the second half after Feldt’s second try, scoring through Davy Litten, but ultimately it wasn’t enough before Lomax sealed the game with a drop-goal late on. Here are the ratings.
Zak Hardaker – A first appearance for Hull at full-back, and he was immense. Never backed down. Made plenty of ground and always looked dangerous with the ball. A master competitor. 8
Harvey Barron – The winger was defensively strong. Some big reads and takes from high kicks. One error late on, but overall a strong account. 7
Jordan Rapana – Back in the centre and did well. Got stuck in before leaving the field for an HIA. 6
Davy Litten – Cleans up kicks so well every week, a big pressure reliever. Also showed good pace and evasion to finish his try. 6
Lewis Martin – Saints did well to force the winger into touch in the first half and, to their credit, restricted his metres well. 5
Cade Cust – Wasn’t in the game enough. Not surprising given Hull’s error count and lack of field position. 4
Aidan Sezer – A big moment in the second half, bursting the line to set up Litten, but unfortunately that was as good as it got. 5
Herman Ese’ese – The big prop has had many more domineering games than that this season. Never backed down, though, and continued to lead the charge despite a few errors. 4
Amir Bourouh – Defended tough and tried to get Hull going in what seemed to be an uphill climb. 5
Liam Knight – Gave away the first penalty that resulted in Saints points and made a few errors, albeit he played big minutes and put himself about. 4
Jack Ashworth – Started in the back row before returning to the field in the second half. Didn’t see a lot of the ball. 5
Ed Chamberlain – A really strong defensive effort on the left edge. Moved to centre late on. 6
Yusuf Aydin – Got through a mountain of defensive work. 6
Jed Cartwright – Back in the side after four months out. Big defensive contributions but made two errors with the ball in hand. Will be better for the runout. Hopefully, the only way is up now. 5
Brad Fash – Played a big stint after coming on. Defended well. 5
Sam Eseh – Thrown on early and tried to get Hull back into it, but to no avail. 5
Tom Briscoe – Came on in the second half after Rapana’s HIA. 5
