Willie Peters believes that his Hull KR outfit will continue to grow throughout the remainder of the Super League season, having only lost once so far in the 2025 campaign to date.
Rovers returned to Super League action with a relentless homecoming performance over Catalans Dragons after their Challenge Cup victory, inflicting the French side’s biggest-ever defeat in the top flight with a 68-6 result.
It maintained their form at the top of the table, with Wigan Warriors keeping on the pressure in the race for the League Leaders’ Shield following their last-gasp win over Huddersfield Giants.
And Peters believes there’s more gears left in the Robins’ performances, who remain hungry following the joys of their historic Wembley win.
The next task at hand is at the Mend–A-Hose Jungle, against an improving Castleford Tigers outfit on Thursday night.
“We’ve been consistent, and I think we’ll grow as the season moves towards the back end of the year,” Peters said.
“I’m keen to see them go after it more as we go towards the end of the year. More importantly, I’m keen to see them go after it this Thursday night.
“We want to be consistent with what we do. There’s no doubt the feeling that we had, it’s an addictive feeling.
“And if you’ve had it once, you want it again. We’re obviously been chasing that for a few years now, so we want more of it. But so do 11 other sides. Every side in the competition wants to win silverware.
“We’ve won our first one for a while. And naturally, we want to go after more. But we’re not getting carried away. We’re not going ahead of ourselves. There’s a lot of hard work to do and it starts this week against Castleford – who played well against Hull FC last week.”
Only one point separated Rovers and the Tigers on Super League’s opening weekend, with Mikey Lewis’ golden point drop-goal securing a 19-18 victory in February at Sewell Group Craven Park.
Danny McGuire has already confirmed that he will field the same 17 that claimed a 22-14 result over Hull FC – their fourth win of the Super League season.
“They’ve certainly improved, which we knew they would,” Peters said of Castleford.
“They’ve got some key players back in now. It was a big win to go to Hull FC, who are higher up on the ladder, and get a good win.
“Going to their place, you know what to expect. Again, we’ll always look at what we can control, and that’s our performance, and that’s our prep. It’s making sure that we’re going there in the right frame of mind.”
