IKEA has arrived in Hull for the first time with the ribbon cut on the city’s new store.

Located next to Boots at Kingston Retail Park, the outlet is smaller than the Swedish furniture giant’s usual expansive stores, like those in Leeds and Sheffield, but offers access to the full range through its click-and-collect and delivery service.

At the grand opening on Thursday, market manager Conor Doherty said: “The store is a new format called a Plan and Order Point. Customers can plan their dream kitchen, their dream bedroom or any other storage solution.

“We also have immediate take away. We have over 100 articles customers can walk out of the store with. We also have a click-and-collect service where customers can access the entire IKEA range and it can be collected free of charge the next day.” A home delivery service is also available.

The outlet offers “in-depth home furnishing advice and expertise” along with assistance in planning, purchasing and installing kitchens, bedroom and living room storage, the company previously said. It showcases a range of kitchens, PAX wardrobe solutions and more along with a home furnishing planning area and an appliance studio.

Six design specialists are based at the Hull store, who are part of a 13-strong workforce.

IKEA Plan and Order Point Hull is open Monday to Saturday between 9am and 8pm, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
