The defender could be one of the first players to move on

Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed Cody Drameh is unhappy and says the defender could leave the club in the January transfer window. Drameh was not involved in Monday night’s 1-0 win at rivals Middlesbrough, as the Tigers thrust themselves into the automatic promotion hunt courtesy of Darko Gyabi’s 12th-minute strike.

The 24-year-old defender hasn’t played in the last seven outings, and Jakirovic admits that the former Leeds United man has become frustrated with his bit-part role in recent weeks, with several Championship rivals believed to be among his admirers.

“Yes (he could leave), Cody is not happy,” the City boss told Hull Live. “I don’t know why, because he played a lot of games and he had some injury problems.

“We will try to find him a good option. He’s under contract for another 18 months, so it must be a very good bid if he wants to leave Hull City.

“I don’t want to have unhappy players here, unsatisfied players, because this is not good for the club, for the group, and we will try to help him.”

Jakirovic has also hinted that David Akintola, who was booked without coming on against Boro, could move on in January if he seeks regular first-team football.

“David Akintola is with us,” the Croatian explained. “I saw this Turkish, I think, social media (reports about him having his contract cancelled), but we are in England, so Turkey is there. England is here.

“What I know so far is that he will be with us. Maybe he will try to change also because of minutes, so we will see.”

Moving players out will be crucial because, until somebody leaves, the Tigers are unable to bring in any new faces owing to their financial fair play situation (FFP).
