City will be aiming to move some of their youngsters out on loan in January
Hull City will make a decision in the next couple of weeks surrounding the future of teenage striker Hugh Parker, amid interest from clubs lower down the EFL.
Parker has impressed in Conor Sellars’ Under-21s since arriving earlier this year from University College Dublin (UCD) in Ireland, and has netted an impressive nine goals and clocked up seven assists.
That form has caught the eye of head coach Sergej Jakirovic, who has used Parker in first-team training regularly in recent weeks, and owing to injuries to Joe Gelhardt and Enis Destan, and with Oli McBurnie just coming back from his own lay-off, Parker was named on the bench for the 2-0 win over Wrexham.
The 19-year-old is highly rated by the Tigers, but it’s felt that he would benefit from a spell out on loan where he can play regularly at a good standard.
City are keen to try and move out a host of academy players in the January window in a bid to get them regular first-team football in the EFL.
“We will see,” Jakirovic said when asked what the plan was for the youngster. “Hugh is with us right now. We are using him especially when we have problems with the strikers, so he’s with us, he’s there, he’s performing good.
“I can say I watched a few games, so he’s OK. We will see if he needs minutes. It’s maybe better to go and have minutes on loan, especially here (in England). I like this; you can always pull him back, and this is a good option for us.”
