She was left in ‘total shock’
It’s a very merry Christmas for one lucky East Yorkshire woman who won almost £45,000 with the rarest hand in poker. The “unlikely high roller”, who wishes to remain anonymous, was enjoying a relaxing Saturday evening with her partner at a Hull casino when fortune came calling.
They sat down to play three card poker – one of the most popular games at Grosvenor Casino, in Dock Street – when something almost miraculous happened. With the table watching on, she turned over a Royal Flush, ensuring she would be enjoying the ultimate early Christmas present.
As the final card completed the hand, “cheers erupted across the casino floor with fellow players and spectators joining the celebration”, a spokesperson for the venue said. The winner, who scooped £44,579, now says she plans to mark her upcoming birthday in style and treat her loved ones to a holiday.
She said: “I’m in total shock. My partner and I were just enjoying a bit of Saturday evening poker when I suddenly hit a Royal Flush. The atmosphere was electric, and everyone at the table and across the room was celebrating with us.
“It’s a moment I’ll never forget and the perfect way to start both the festive period and my birthday celebrations.”
