Hull’s former boxing champion Tommy Coyle took the day to share the Christmas Love with hundreds of struggling families. With a day free from his current role playing the evil King Rat, in Bridlington Spa’s Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington he was joined by Joe Standerline – who plays the Dame, and entertained the long queue waiting to receive a bit of Christmas magic, including joints of meat, fruit and veg, toys and presents.

Speaking about the Christmas in the Community event Tommy said, “It’s an opportunity for those that are in need of a bit of Christmas Magic to come and get what they need, I believe no child should wake up on Christmas Day without any toys under the tree.

“It is also about who is around the tree and unfortunately some loved ones aren’t around the tree so if we can help those that need some magic, and wave a bit of magic, that is what we are here to do”.

Helping to provide the Christmas giveaway, spearheaded by Coyle Health & Wellbeing, are sponsors Transwaste, Cranswick, MKM, Pagabo, Centrica Energy Storage Plus and Nikkie West and family. Tommy added: “We have all the meat, the fruit and veg so everyone can have a nice Christmas Dinner, it wouldn’t be possible without the partners we have.

“It is not all just me, yes it’s our initiative which we started years ago, but a lot of people help now. It just goes to show, when everybody does get together, and everybody gets stuck in, and those that can, do, we can make a big difference together”.

“It’s a great initiative and we are going to help hundreds of families today and I’m proud.” Shell and Stacey were in the queue and added: “This really helps us out, it helps with the food and some present opening for the kids. It really does help loads of people and it’s for the people that really need it, thanks Tommy.”

Lisa added: “Whatever he does for us is fantastic, what a great job, he is amazing. Thankyou very much Tommy”.
