‘Kingswood is a thriving community, and its families deserve high-quality outdoor spaces’
A ‘major upgrade’ has been announced for Kingswood Park, Hull City Council has announced. The park is located on School Lane, adjacent to Kingswood Parks Primary School.
According to the council, the park provides a ‘vital green space for the growing Kingswood community.’ The improvements hope to tackle long-standing flooding issues and enhance the play facilities for local families.
During periods of poor weather, the park is often unusable due to water pooling under the play equipment, the council said. To address these challenges and improve the park for local families, council leader, Mike Ross, has granted funding from the Leader’s Fund to implement several improvements including:
- Replacement of one piece of play equipment
- Removal of existing grass mat surfacing across the site
- Excavation of all equipment surfacing pads
These improvements aim to create raised areas around play equipment, reducing water retention and ensuring a safe, accessible play area all year round. Ongoing engagement with residents will continue before proceeding with the building works, the council confirmed.
Cllr Ross said: “Kingswood is a thriving community, and its families deserve high-quality outdoor spaces, so I’m delighted to support this scheme. These improvements will make the park usable all year round, giving children a safe place to play. I look forward to seeing the benefits for local residents once the work is complete.”
