This week’s round-up of the latest roadworks, both new and ongoing
Here is an updated list of road closures, lane closures and temporary traffic lights that motorists should be aware of. This list is based the most recent announcement from Hull City Council, which is released every Friday.
While roadworks can be an inconvenience for drivers, they are essential for maintaining the roads and crucial infrastructure such as water mains, ensuring smooth traffic flow in the long term. Currently, several projects are in progress across Hull.
This includes road closures, lane closures, and temporary traffic lights. While some projects have been ongoing for a long time, notably the A63 scheme, others are new to this list.
A63 improvement scheme – St James Street to Market Place
- Start/End Dates: 01-May-20 to 31-May-26
- Details: Major A63 Improvement scheme – full infrastructure change, operating under a Development Control Order. Lane and road closures until completion.
- Contractor: National Highways
Annandale Road
- Start/End Dates: 08-Oct-25 to 16-Dec-25
- Details: Meter installation near 133 Annandale Road. Two-way signals in place 9.30am to 3.30pm only.
- Contractor: Yorkshire Water
Holderness Road
- Start/End Dates: 14-Oct-25 to 12-Dec-25
- Details: Emergency repair of water main. Lane closure in place near number 800.

- Start/End Dates: 15-Oct-25 to 18-Dec-25
- Details: Telecoms maintenance. Lane closure southwest-bound, from its junction with Aberdeen Street to the entrance of Farmfoods parking. 8pm to 6am only.

Humber Dock Street
- Start/End Dates: 03-Feb-25 to 30-Apr-26
- Details: Public realm works, road closure in place on the public right of way along Humber Dock Street between junctions with Blanket Row and Humber Street.

Lowgate
- Start/End Dates: 01-Dec-25 to 10-Dec-25
- Details: Southbound road closure for trial hole surveys as part of the District Heat scheme. 9.30am to 3.30pm only.

Princes Dock Street
- Start/End Dates: 03-Feb-25 to 30-Apr-26
- Details: Works are part of Hull Public Realm development scheme. Road closure in place.

- Details: Inspection of the Princes Road Rail Bridge. Road closure 11pm to 6am only.

- Details: Inspection of St Georges Road Level Crossing. Road closure 10pm to 6am only.
