A Christmas remembrance service will be held at Hull’s Chanterlands Crematorium on 14 December, the city council has said.

The service will start at 14:00 GMT in the large chapel, with people asked to arrive 15 minutes earlier.

Councillor Ted Dolman, portfolio holder for communities, said: “While Christmas is a very special time for people in Hull, it can also be a difficult period if you’ve lost someone.

“We hope this service can bring comfort to anyone, whether they’re grieving someone they’ve recently said goodbye to or where they’ve been dealing with their loss for a longer period. While there is obvious sadness involved, the service does aim to be uplifting and hopeful.”

There will be a chance to light a candle and place a remembrance dedication on a Christmas tree.

Refreshments will be served, organisers said.
