The Tigers are in the thick of the Championship play-off race
Hull City will likely be backed by their biggest following of the season when they make the short journey to face stricken Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day.
City head to the Steel City on December 26, and will hope to strengthen their grip in the play-off race with victory at Hillsborough in front of what will be a big Christmas crowd.
The Tigers have been handed 2,400 tickets in the upper tier of the Leppings Lane End of Hillsborough, with adults paying £30 to watch Sergej Jakirovic’s men go in search of a big win on the road.
If, as expected, those tickets sell out, then the lower tier will become available as it did last season, when more than 3,000 away supporters had an up-close view of Charlie Hughes’ rasping header in stoppage time to secure a valuable victory in their quest to avoid relegation.
Last term, prices were much higher at £36 and came on the same April afternoon as Hull FC and Hull KR faced off in the big derby at the MKM Stadium, with City struggling at the wrong end of the division.
This term, City are seventh in the Championship after Saturday’s terrific win at Stoke City courtesy of Joe Gelhardt’s 90th-minute winner, while Wednesday are bottom of the league and heading to League One, 21 points from safety, having gone into administration.
City have been informed that the game is all-ticket and therefore, there will be no available tickets to buy on the day at Hillsborough. Tickets go on sale to members with more than 400 points on Tuesday morning at 9am.
Prior to that trip to South Yorkshire for one of the most exciting days on the football calendar, City face Middlesbrough and Wrexham at home in the next 10 days, before travelling to Millwall and then hosting West Brom in their final outing ahead of Christmas.
